The Minuteman Foundation a 501 (c) (3) charity has an established dedicated fund for the Nathan Adelson Hospice that has already acquired property in Henderson.
$6,398 has been so collected. All donations through the Minuteman Foundation may be deductible. Donations to the Association is not deductible.

Chuck Davis has a conflict of interest since he is the lifetime treasurer and his partner, Favil West, is the lifetime President of the Minuteman Foundation, and wants all SCA charity collections to be passed through MMF which usually keeps most if all donations for its own “endowment fund” with the promise that “someday” when the fund exceeds $1 million, the MMF may start spending the interest on that account on charity work. On the other hand, MMF could also change the target to $2 million and make everyone wait until that amount is received.
Chuck is apparently being deceptive since he knows that our event leaders have never had any intention of having any of the donations pass through any SCA account.
In this case, the SCA organizers and volunteers want 100% of the donations to go directly to the Hospice chairty accounts. Why would we need a middle man to accept donations for this or any charity? Many SCA individuals, groups and clubs wish to donate to groups like at-risk schools that the Minuteman would not even consider helping. Does that mean an SCA resident, group or club should be prevented form helping the schools? In the Nevada budget crunch, many worthy organizations like schools will need more of our help.
Hospice has already broken ground on the adult day care facility. Has the Minuteman contributed one penny towards that building? Or have they collected money and not distributed it?
At town hall, after three attempts by Bob Sansing to spin the charitible donation as first illegal, then as non deductible, Shirley Cheri had to set him straight. Bob Sansing still wants you to donate through a middleman and not directly to the hospice. Why?

If any checks are written to the SCA Women’s Club, or any other chartered club, those donations will NOT be tax deductible to the donor and will be considered income to the chartered club by the IRS.
If individuals want to donate money or tangible items directly to a charity, then they are entitled to a tax deduction. The Minuteman Foundation is a charity whose charter is to help seniors. We are responsible for funding the activities of the SCA Community Service Group as well as passing through donations designated for Channel 99, the Nathan Adelson Hospice, or any other designated entity by the donor.
Schools are NOT a charity and monies donated to schools are NOT tax deductible unless the donation to the school comes from a 501C3 charity such as the Minuteman Foundation.
The Minuteman Foundation was founded by SCA residents and all work is done as volunteers. No one connected to the foundation receives any financial reward for their efforts. If you would like to learn more about the Foundation, its’ goals and objectives, please contact any Foundation Trustee.

Thank you Mr. Sansing and Mr. Davis for posting to AV blog. Since you are both on the MMF Board, could one of you report on this blog what the total amount of cash donations have been provided by the MMF to the Community Service Club and Channel 99 for 2005, 2006, and 2007?
Also, how much has the Community Service Club members raised in donations to the MMF for each of the three years?
AV has been told that the CSC has raised many times more cash than it has receives from MMF. We also hear that MMF no longer provides any funds to Channel 99. Could that info be true?

Bob Sansing and SCA residents: The co-president of the women’s club is a retired career IRS manager, and we have had a retired career IRS manager as a past treasurer. Additionally, we have, and have had, board members who have been CEOs of non-profits, members of state boards of large non-profit corporations, business women, etc. Do you think that we do not know and apply the IRS rulings better than the Minuteman Foundation?
Your assumption that we do not know what we are doing, or would do something wrong, is demeaning and defamatory. You owe the women’s club an apology. You are not assisting the community when you are deceptive and spin the truth. Money does not have to be passed through the Minuteman for Nathan Adelson Hospice.
We ask: how much money has the Minuteman Foundation donated to Nathan Adelson Hospice? They have already broken ground on the adult day care center, and they have established the building fund for it and the care facility.
Don’t tell SCA about the intentions of the Minuteman, tell us about what the MMF has actually donated. For several years, the SCA women’s club has already donated money to the building fund, and intends to continue. Yes, we also encourage our members to donate directly to this and other local charities that we support, and we do not see the need to use the Minuteman as a pass through organization. Again: how much money has the Minuteman Foundation donated to the Nathan Adelsen Hospice?

But it seems you do deem it necessary to have the Women’s Club act as a middleman in your hospice project. How interesting. If the Women’s Club wants to become a 501C3 non-profit charity, then do it. But please stop acting as if you already are. That is misleading to the community and some may say, deceptive.
I have great respect for Kathy Mattson and worked closely with her as part of the Trumpets Working Group. She and I have discussed this very issue in the past and we just agreed to disagree. That is the way adults act with one another.
Without the MMF there would be no Community Service Group since all of our MMF Trustees are members of the Group and have always acted in its leadership roles and responsibilities.
